Getting to the source of the problem from a different angle

Instead of going through the tooth like a root canal, we make a small incision in the gum to access the tip of the root where the infection is.

How this is different

A root canal and retreatment work from the inside of your tooth. An apicoectomy works from the outside.

Remove infection directly at the source

Clean out cysts and inflamed tissue

Seal the root tip permanently

Our Process

How it works

Three simple steps. Comfortable. Predictable healing.

Get comfortable

Local anesthesia is administered to fully numb the area. Your mouth stays closed throughout the entire procedure.

Precise treatment

A small incision is made in the gum. The infected tissue and the root tip are carefully removed, the area is cleaned thoroughly, and the root is sealed with a bioceramic material.

Sutures and healing

The incision is closed with sutures-- either dissolvable or removable, depending on your preference. We will then see you back in 6 months to assess healing.

Can you explain how an apicoectomy is performed?

An apicoectomy is very different from a root canal. Instead of working through the biting surface of your tooth, we approach the root directly through the gums at its base. A major benefit for you is that your mouth remains closed and comfortable throughout the procedure. It is a more direct, efficient, and often more comfortable way to treat persistent infections.
