Our Process
How retreatment works
The process of retreatment is much like a root canal therapy.
Identify the Problem
Using 3D imaging, our doctors can identify exactly why a previous root canal may not have healed. Whether it's a missed canal, a crack in the tooth, or complex anatomy that wasn't fully addressed the first time.
The Treatment Process
The tooth is carefully reopened and the existing filling material is removed. Our doctors then clean the canal system thoroughly and reseal the tooth with a new bioceramic filling material.
Protect Long Term
It is important to return to your general dentist within 30 days to complete the final restoration. The sooner the tooth is restored, the better the long term outcome.

How is the retreatment procedure different from the first root canal?
The main difference is that there is already filling material inside your tooth from the first procedure. Our first step is to remove this material. Depending on what was used, this might require a bit more effort. After that, the process is similar to a standard root canal: we thoroughly clean, disinfect, and seal the tooth to ensure a better outcome.
